Supermarkets |
With your back to the villa turn right outside on the road and then immediately left walking uphill. Supermarket and GALATA village is at the top of the road in the village square. The main supermarket is right in the centre of the square. The small shop (all in white paint) just beside the bus stop is the bakery and has fresh bread delivered every morning. They do wonderful Pizza for 1 leva! |
| Local Shops |
There is a small selection of shops in Galata but most importantly there is a great selection in Varna itself. Don’t forget to ask about Metro (Cash and Carry see directions later - Huge store-will only suit the serious shopper- where the prices seem to be a fraction of ours; about 20 minutes drive away off the airport road). The area around the Cathedral is full of markets and the main Pedestrian shopping street starts from across the road opposite the Cathedral. For grocery shopping be aware the best supermarket is called Picadily and there are 3 branches in Varna. |
| Restuarants |
Local restaurants and bars are available but the closest local restaurant is - with your back to the villa turn right outside the gate and then walk straight on for about 10 minutes - see the blue terrace restaurant on the right advertising Pepsi (it’s No.58 Kraibrezhna –we’re 68 K). Other local restaurants are about 4 bus stops away heading towards Varna. Just past the fork at the top of the hill Restaurant is the new big building on the left it’s in Cyrillic so can’t tell you it’s name –they do menus in English! There is also Restaurant Fantastika –probably the best view in Varna. There are many restaurants and bars in Varna Town and in the resorts. See separate section on Restaurants later in booklet. |

Minutes away – Blue Terrace with views (58 Kraibrezhna -see above.) Lots in Varna town and a few on the way there, with spectacular sea views –just sit on the right hand side of Bus on way in to Varna and see for yourself –well worth a walk/bus ride to see them. |
| Family Activities |
Aquapolis – This is a big Waterpark suitable for all the family and is located in Golden Sands. Only buses numbered 309;109 and 409 go to Aquapolis. There is a local bus/minibus in Golden Sands resort which will take you to the Aquapolis from the centre of the resort.
Dolphinarium in Primorski Park (Sea Gardens) –There is a very useful Local Guide which can be bought for about 10 leva from any of the book stores or Newsagents Kiosk in Varna. There should be a copy in the Villa so we would respectfully ask that it remains there for the use of the next guests Children’s Play Ground including Dodgems, Bouncy Castles and many more can be found in Primorski Park opposite the University and Bus number 17A stops outside (it’s at the end of the main pedestrian street in Varna). A must for kids aged between 4 -12 . Tennis, Windsurfing, Water skiing, Banana boats, Paragliding, Boating trips to Balchick and the Botanical gardens (about 4-5 hours) are all available at GS & Albena. Personally we believe Albena is better because there is so much building work going on in GS

| Banks |
Banks are open Mondays to Fridays 09.00 - 16.00 and until midday on Saturdays except in the summer. Remember you will need your passport. The “hole in the wall” facilities are extremely good (and in English but charges by our UK Banks can be prohibitive) and cater for most cards allowing you to withdraw cash hassle free. You are limited to 200 leva per transaction (approx £70!) but it doesn’t stop you taking this 3+ times in the same day. |
