Varna International Airport (VAR)
Location: The airport is situated on the western outskirts, about five miles
(9km) from Varna.
Time: Local time is GMT +2 (GMT +3 from April to September).

Transfer to the city: Public bus 409, which passes through central Varna and
travels as far as Golden Sands resort, serves the airport. Taxis are
available, but the meters are often not working and it is advisable to agree
on a fare with the driver before departure.
Car rental: Car rental agents are on site at the airport.
Facilities: The airport has currency exchange facilities, a large restaurant
and duty free shops. Varna airport is currently fully-engaged only in summer
months although plans are afoot to make this an all year round airport. More
than 40 airlines have announced their intentions to launch charter flights
to Varna in the summertime. The tally of passengers arriving at Varna
Airport marked an increase of 48% in January 2005 compared to January of
last year. Bulgaria Air flag carrier has announced the launch of regular
flights from the coastal city of Varna to the European cities of London,
Amsterdam, Vienna and Frankfurt, as of May-June.
